ALTO NG Sees Increased Payload

Improvement Brings LSA to Poland, Germany, & Hungary

Czech LSA manufacturer Direct Fly has given its low-wing, tricycle geared LSA an upgrade, with a bump to a max takeoff weight of 600kg. The news comes after their Light Aircraft Association, their domestic aero regulator, approved the takeoff weight increase for the Alto NG. The change isn't anything too new for US buyers, since local Alto NG's are good to go at our full 1,320-pound max, but the approval does pave the way for the firm to begin selling the Alto NG in Poland, Germany, and Hungary.

From 2012 (YouTube Version): Updates To Proven Zenith Designs...

While at the U.S. LSA Expo 2012, ANN News Editor Tom Patton speaks with Sebastien Heintz, the Owner and President of the Zenith Aircraft Company. Tom’s first question was to ask what’s new with the Zenith Zodiac 650. Heintz said the Zodiac 650 is the newest in a long line of successful Zodiac aircraft. Classic Aero-TV: Jabiru's New J170-D - An Upgraded and Fine-tuned LSA

From 2016 (YouTube Version): The Airplane From Down Under Is A Proven Trainer…

Jabiru was one of the early light sport aircraft (LSA) brought into the U.S.A. when the sport pilot rules were initiated in 2004. They have long been popular for pilot training in Australia, and while at the Deland Sport Aviation Showcase 2016, ANN News Editor, Tom Patton, found out more about a new model of Jabiru trainer that has been recently introduced to the U.S. Tom met up with Pete Krotje, who is the president of Jabiru North America which is located in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Krotje says the new Jabiru model is referred to as the J170-D and is a highly upgraded version of the original J170. The airplane is designed with flight training in mind, which makes sense because Jabiru airplanes train a high percentage of new pilots in Australia.

NTSB Final Report: Schempp-Hirth Discus CS

Improper Repair Of A (Canopy) Crack By Maintenance Personnel...

Analysis: The pilot reported that the glider was at 3,700 ft mean sea level when the canopy suddenly, without warning, separated from the glider. He subsequently landed uneventfully at his intended destination airport. Review of maintenance records revealed that about 2 years before the accident, a maintenance facility stop-drilled a hole to correct a canopy crack at the rear hinge along the glide frame. Metallurgical examination revealed that the drilled hole appeared to halt progression of the original crack along its initial propagation direction.
